Stitchin'

Here is some of the stitchin' I have talked about the Christmas stocking is a WIP. I have embroidered the Santa (No it isn't finished yet!!) to use on the other side of the stocking. The theme was Santa Claus so I thouht this would be a good idea for the other side. I am thinking of doing it in the Santa fabric that you can see alittle bit of on the front and then centering the embroidery. The other piece is Suzie's alien landscape and believe me it is way outside the box for me!! I gathered some "hills" on the right side for some texture. The trim is to simulate rocks around the edge of the water. As you can see I have started to add some aliens, they are not finished yet. There is other vegetation going on and I have more "rock" ideas. I really hope that Suzie likes this......The other embroideries are items I found on the web and also some long/short stitches that I practiced. Hope you are having a great day!

Pink Buttons

As if I needed another button I got these beauties on ebay! Love this seller, I have bought regularly from her for awhile: grannieannie8. Tell her I sent you if ya wanna! I have a growing collection of buttons, one of my favorite things to collect! After I pack and move everything the end of the month I will be sorry that I collect anything won't I??? More later as I promised you some stitching pictures!

Tracks and sun

Hard to believe that a week has passed already since we were at the beach. I thought I would share another sunrise shot and a picture of the seagull tracks! I had such fun there! Working on long and short stitch in a minute. Have helped DD paint her master a melon green color and sell her TV armoire that she wanted out of her room. Now she can get something new. Her room is gorgeous now, gone is the boring cream color!!

Beach Birthday

DD Lacy and spent last weekendd celebrating my birthday at the beach. The sunrise I caught on the beach Sun. and the other two pictures were later in the day. Who knew that the sunrise could be such fabulous colors? Sounds as if I never saw one before but of course I haven't. I guess I am learning to appreciate the color and texture in nature that I never saw before. We did have a great time.I guess I am a beach girl at heart, why did I ever think I wanted to live in the desert?? Silly me!! Love the sights, the sounds, the smells of the water. Haven't gotten much stitching done but will share some really soon. I am working on an alien block for Suzy in UK from CQ4N and a stitch callenge on Stitchmap. Things are hectic with DD getting ready for a trip to Eygpt! Hoping she brings her mama some fabric back!! LOL

Weekend trip

Today Lacy and I are off to Virginia Beach. We are spending ther weekend there on the beach and visiting my brother/SIL that live there. She is very interested in my father's military hx and my brother has the documents so we are going to copy them so she can have a set for herself. He also has my dad's bronze star that she wants to see. Hoping the weather is not too chilly and we can dip into the ocean while we are there. Maybe I can talk her into a quick stop at an antique mall or something fun while I am there. Who knows!! Have a great weekend!!!

Angels

Here is a close up of the dish from yesterday. Don't ya love it? I just couldn't pass it up. The lady I bought it from told me she used it for her earrings. I have to figure out what I am going to use it for. I have also included a picture of the side of it. Here are some pictures of my fall block, that I have finished my work on and am ready to mail out to have someone else work on. There is a close up of the sunflower that I did in silk ribbon embroidery.

Sat Flea Market Finds

I got Picasa to upload my pictures!! Here is the haul from Sat. The doileys are hand made. The baby girl shoes are fabric and so sweet!! Then there is the gorgeous ceramic bowl w/lid! It is off white and needs a bath but it has beautiful angels on the top!! The price for everything was just right, $5!! The dish was one dollar and so were the shoes, the doilies were the most expensive but they are new and hand made!! Sunday I did even better but no pictures yet. Now that I have mastered (LOL) the technology I will get pictures taken to share with you.

I had a great weekend at the flea market and wanted to share with you. I got some beautiful bead/lace trim, a cute pair of pink baby shoes, pink silk thread, a pink depresion dish and a gorgeous bowl with lid that has angels on it!! I will share pictures as soon as I can. Have a great week!

More goodies & Christmas Gift ideas

I got these hankies with gorgeous tatting on the edge, fifty cents each!! Gotta love it! Here are pictures of the rayon seam binding and lace. I love rayon seam binding and use it on my quilts and also my mixed media goodies. Todaay I made another trip to JoAnn's and bought fabric for pillowcases that I plan to make for the grands for Christmas. Frogs for one dgs and orange and white for the other. The girls are so much more fun, pink roses, pink heart print and lavender heart print!! I am also going to get some plastic bag holders made for gifts. We all seem to be recycling so this is a much cuter look! Two of the DDs have favorite football teams so I think I will work with that for fabric ideas. Would love for your to share any Christmas gift ideas that you are making this year!!

A few new goodies

We are safely home from OH and I have to share few of the goodies that I got while there. I love to go to Lene's Web (yes the sign has a spider's web on it)!! It is a great barn with all kinds of goodies packed in it!! A warm and generous woman named Marlene Webb owns it and it has been a favorite haunt of mine for many years. One of those places that I always go to when I get to OH. I found many wonderful things: old books, sheet music, Ideals magazines, old pictures, hankies w/tatting, rayon seam binding, floss, lace (most is vintage but not all) some fabric (on piece is silk), plus the tiniest bottles!!! Such fun!! I also hit JoAnn's Labor Day sale and picked up some things I was wanting.I got some rattail (?) cording to try on my fall CQ block, one is dk brown and the other an antique gold. We had such fun while we were there but must be getting old as we are so tired and grateful to be home. I will share more photos tomorrow!!

Gratitude

Strange that I have come across 2 videos this week that I wanted to include here. This is not my usual style! This is not politically motivated, if you read my blog you know my DD is in the SC National Guard. After having a woman say "thank you" to her in the airport on her way home from basic training I have been inspired to do the same when I meet military personnel in any situation. This video is so perfect and it may inspire you too!!

I am off for another blessed day with family. I am taking my mom to lunch and to the store. I also hope to get to swim with the grands, maybe have breakfast with them!! Happy Sunday dear friends!!
