Crazy in Arizona

Yep that is me!! I have such a mess going on here at the moment trying to sort and pack! The worst part is not having even stepped into the sewing room!! The lady from the moving company says it will take me three days, mmmmmm............. We will see! It will be nice to get my hands in the goodies actually! I have been feeling deprived: no TV, no land line phone, and computer seldom! I am at the mercy of the neighbor for computer service and I about went nuts with hers off for the past 24 hrs (I know shame on me!!) I am grateful to be back among the living, at least temporarily! I need to get back at that spare room that is so full of stuff! Hoping to take a moment for pictures soon!

Flying High

Today I am off to Arizona. I will be gone for 2 weeks, sorting and packing all of our things to put in storage here in South Carolina. It seems like such a daunting task before me, this took months when we made the move to AZ from OH. I will have to move fast and have lots of energy. LOL Maybe I will sleep well while I am doing this little job! I can feel the need to be creative already building just knowing that I will soon be able to get my hands in my stash again! I am really excited to get to see our things again. I keep thinking of all of the things I would like to get done in the sewing room, but I will have to get the work done instead. When I get back here I will have time to be creative and will have my things just down the road, when I have the urge. Of course this means being able to find what I want to work with when I need it! LOL That could be the real joke here! Hoping to be able to post while I am there, maybe I will have time to share some pictures too!

Life hits the bullseye

Gotta love the texture in the bark on this tree in our backyard, isn't it neat?
I will apologize for this post and then you can quit reading right here! I try to keep it light and fun here but yesterday life just caught me right square, ya know what I mean? Wakened at 6 AM with a phone call saying our oldest DGD has h1n1. She has chronic health issues so for us this is beyond scarey. Then as I am trying to get out the door to get DH a SC ID card the phone rings again and the dr's office says that DH has a compressed vertebrae in his neck and needs to see a neurosurgeon. Poor guy, what else can go wrong? He already needs three surgeries and now there may be another one in his future. So feeling kicked in the teeth here at the moment. Add adult children with big problems and me flying out to AZ on Wed. Love life!! LOL

I have Susie in the UK's Alien Landscape ready to mail out today. I added a few rocks made from panyhose and fiberfil, I really liked how they turned out. Sorry forgot to take a picture! Jenny's fall block is getting a pumpkin at the moment and I hope to get it finished, maybe while I am in AZ. I can always work on it during the flight.

Lacy is in Charleston getting the testing done for the kidney transplant. I hope that this is all of it and we will be ready to go. Wouldn't that be great? Going to have a better day today!!

First is a wall hanging made on paper with my name on the left side and my horoscope on the right. Isn't it neat? She also brought me some scarves, fabric for her mama to sew with!! Yes!! She was disappointed that she couldn't get to a real fabric store but I am happy with what I got. She also got me some Swiss chocolate! Smells so good!! One grateful and happy lady here today!!

New Goodwill Store!

Thankful for what seems a small thing today: new Goodwill store in my neighboorhood!! I have found out after moving here that I was spoiled in AZ with the local thrift shops and Goodwill stores. Prices are high here and most of the thrift stores are a mess. Even though this one is brand new they had thrown all of the housewares, Christmas decorations, patterns and other misc on the shelves on top of each other. Really hard to find things and the possiblity of knocking things on the floor and breaking them was high! I did get some things here are the cheap goodies: a small wicker chair (doll size), 2 pink Christmas stockings and a package of pink napkins. I also found (they are in the washer so no pictures yet) a pink jacket with a very large pink lace collar, a pink sweater with rhinestone buttons and a cream linen blouse. Each of these will be torn apart and things selvedged. Buttons and lace of course and the linen fabric for embroidery, wishing the clothing prices were better but maybe in the future they will have sales when I don't have to feel guilty for spending $4.95 for clothing to tear apart! I know that I can't buy linen for that price per yard so I guess I did ok, certainly not my best bargain hunting ! The hunt was fun and of course it will not be packed like it was today in the future, ya know it was the first day! I did wonder if they had been saving the best donations from all of their stores to haul in there for the first day!! LOL Aren't I bad?? Baby girl had a delay getting out of Eygpt, hoping she arrives tomorrow!! Have a great day!

Victorian Boot Swap and more

I want to share with you first the pillowcases I am embroidering from two of the DGDs. They are 5 and almost 4, so it won't be long and they will need these! I am making pillows for pockets for the other two grands. We have a birthday in the family today DGD turns 5 HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Below is the Victorian Boot that I have pieced and begun to embellish. Will share a picture when it is done. I have tried something new this week. Needle Punch, do I need another craft~~~ NO! But I like the looks and textuer of this one, so I had to give it a try. Another WIP! Blogging may slow down as DD gets in from Eygpt tomorrow and then I leave for AZ next Wed. Think happy thoughts for me as I spend 2 weeks there packing up our condo to move it to SC.

You can't beat $6 for a dozen jars, sure you can can with them if ya want!

Sat finds

I spent yesterday at the sewing machine. I decided to finish a skirt that I had the fabric for. Beautiful fall colors and a yummy velveteen fabric.I am making pillowcases for Christmas gifts. Horses for DGD and frogs for DGS. Snowmen for DD. I have more to make but this is a fun and quick project. I have enjoyed searching for fabric to fit their personalities!

More fabrics used for pillowcases.

Here are the things that I got at the flea market today: a box of lace pieces and a stack of bingo cards. Nothing like last weeks haul, but you never know, that is the fun of it!!

100th Post and there is a GiveAway!!

Can you believe 100 posts? I can't. My blog is less than a year old, so I am kinda new to this but I love it! I love thinking up new things to share and even more I love reading othe blogs and getting great ideas from them. I love sharing my little finds and some of the things that I make. I try to keep it light here and not add too much personal crap, we all have enough of that don't we? Today I want to share last weekends flea market finds. The first one is a small "train case" we used to call them (dating myself aren't I) My hope for this is to tear out the inside (it is a mess and smells !) and add fresh fabric and then give it a coat of white paint. Cost $1
The two pictures are good size pictures I got for our future home here in SC. They were $15 for the pair, I love the pictures and the frames are in good shape. Not sure if I am changing the frame color or leaving them as is. These chidren just speak to my heart!! Last but by far the best a wood child's rocker $9!! It is real sturdy and even buying paint to paint it white it is a steal!! It will be beautiful on DD's porch. I have threatened to paint it pink so I could take it with me when I move out!! Pink is not baby girl's color but it sure is mine!!

Of course there is the give away! Please leave me a comment on this post for a chance to enter the give away. If you become a follower you get your name in the drawing twice! Add my give away to your blog and get another chance to win!! Spread the word, I would love to have more followers! Thanks to all of you who read my blog!!

Blessings from Friends

Tonight I am sharing the rest of the Crazy Quilt blocks that I was so blessed to receive on Mon.
Friends are the best and all the better because you can choose the ones you want so you get the best!! I have friends that make up for not ever having a sister, but who knows maybe I wouldn't have liked her or been close to her anyway!

Aren't they all beautiful?? These ladies can really stitch can't they? I have more pictures to share of blog giveaway goodies, and other goodies that came with the blocks but I will share them in the next post. Keep checking back as this is post 99!! That means a sweet giveaway........thinking and going through this small stash but I have some gorgeous fabric to share my peeps!! Do you love Oriental, satin brocade?? Enough of the hints. Finally an email and call from the DD in Eygpt. Still can't believe that she is there. I hope she gets to see some sites and take some great pictures, maybe shop for mom! LOL

Happy Heart Mail

After a long tiring day of dr appts and cool rainy weather we arrived home to a glorious mail day!!! I couldn't believe there was a box on the porch and two envelopes in the mail box!!! Can you see why my heart was singing and I hadn't even opened anything yet? First was a pkg from Ruby, she had a give away on her blog (some day I will get that cool thing down where I can link to the blog with the name but not yet!!) in it there were cool horse appliques, laces and fibers (hope I didn't forget anything!) Thanks so much, you are a terrific blog friend. Next was the journal from Lyn @ Quiltinlion! The cutest journal and all in Pink!! Can't wait to put it by my chair and start using it for my crazy quilting! Thank you Lyn! Last but not least was the box from Sue! I feel so privileged to be part of the Crazy Quilt 4 Newbies yahoo group! In side the box were crazy quilt blocks, fabrics, goodies etc from many of the ladies on the group in a "hearts and flowers" shower for me. I am guessing this was done because of our recent move to SC for DH's transplant, leaving most of my stash in AZ. What a beautiful bunch of friends ! I truly feel loved and it was the perfect day for it!! Just found out my mom has shingles, a rather bad case of them and my girls are taking of her for me and they both are busy busy women. Thank you to each and everyone who did something to brighten my day today! There is a picture of the journal, two of the blocks, and the fall heart from the heart swap on CQ4N. Aren't they all great??? I only got a few pictures because the batteries are dead, and there are none in the house~ I promise to share more soon and also pictures of my great day at the flea market yesterday! No word from DD, but I am guessing she is in bed asleep!
