Lace egg

Here are pictures of my lace covered egg: I think this is either a goose or duck sized egg, no little chicken egg here!!! LOL I think it turned out cute, although I would do it different the next time. I am still not sure about using a glue stick to glue the lace down. I know that I will have to try another since I have plenty of lace scraps laying around the sewing room. I see it in pink lace too, painted or do I have some pink lace?? Tomorrow I am off to take a class in Shasiko bobbin embroidery, should be fun and inspirational. I will share if anything turns out nice.

Lacy

Here is darling daughter's picture from boot camp. I am not sure if she looks scared to death or this is supposed to be her "mean" face!! She is in her last 2 weeks of camp and then goes into AIT (schooling) She qualified last week w/her rifle and passed her physical test. This week she was learning to throw grenades. Something a mother does not want to know!!
Now the fun stuff!! We went to Glendale (AZ) to a small gathering for a Paris day. They have a buch of lovely small stores plus they had some out on the lawn vendors. Don't miss the great Tea Shop, strawberry salad is to die for!! I picked up some vintage linens, a yellow vintage metal can, a lovely bird made from paper, plus tje new MARIE publication by Stampington. It is great, I spent a long time going through it and will go back through it again. I also got their new LIFE magazine. I am in the process of making an egg from lace. It is drying right now so I can work on it more late. Will share pics tomorrow.

Home again

Driving home from CA was a bit of a challenge as we had lots of wind and blowing dust!! Almost home and DD in the army calls w/her 5 minute phone call, it goes by so fast!! Pictures of the bracelet I got at the Art show at Paris to the Moon on Sat and also the cute Easter bunny sticks I picked up at Piecemakers for $1 each. Can you believe it?? Must try to make some myself as they are pretty simple!! The bracelet has a beaded band and is made of felted flower petals w/fiber accents. I got lots of compliments on it while I wore it on Sat.

Mixed Media

Seems to be my words of the day lately!! Here are the 2 dolls I am working on for the doll club challenge. They both need to have arms and maybe legs added to them. I used fabric, ribbon, lace, fabric flowers and some paint. Attchments were done w/glue or modge podge. Fun and used up things in the studio without buying anything new which I loved. I am also adding a picture of the scarf I made in a class last week. Fibers sewn in a grid while in wash away Solvy. Magic add water and have a scarf!! Lots of fun, and it looks better in person.

The other scarf I started is not yet done, it is a soft fabric cut on the bias and then woven. I need to finish the weaving process so I can get it on the machine, and sewn in place. I also have yoga pants from a class last week to finish up. Need the waist and hem finished. Busy weekend, I hit the Target and JoAnn sale, scoring 3 50th anniversary Barbies and some gorgeous fabric. Planning to whip up some baby bibs for gifties.

New work

I have been very busy and creative!! Here are a couple pictures of my works in progress. The doll made from the crochet thread is done, she was inspired by the newest Cloth, Paper, Scissors mag.

My hubby thinks I should make one as a gift, so I will have to dig and see if I can find another almost gone spool of thread for her body. I usually give this thread as a gift to a friend in Ohio so I don't know that I have anymore.

The flat doll is an EPB fairy that was hard to photograph. She is missing her head yet...faces my biggest fear!! Love the doll other than that!!

The last picture is a doll in progress, naked except for her socks (of all things) She needs a dress/face/ and accessories. I think I know what fabric but that will wait til tomorrow as I have 2 classes today, making scarves this AM and making lounging pants this PM. Should keep me busy!!!
